Let's make De Anza a truly sustainable community.

A major element of a conducive learning environment is just that – the environment. Both inside and out, the quality of our facilities and our campus affect how we learn.1 De Anza has excelled in energy management and sustainability for years,2 and we have all benefited from improvements. However, as with all environmental progress, there's always more to be done.

E-waste recycling events. Campuswide compost bins. Used battery disposal programs. Increased awareness for the OTC program. These are just a few of the ideas I have for a cleaner, greener De Anza. I plan to implement all of these ideas and more, including additional incentives for using alternative transportation. More cafeteria food will be grown in a community garden for healthy, sustainable food options. I also plan to increase the EcoFund, so more students can take initiative to launch environmentally friendly projects. Together, we will turn De Anza into a truly sustainable community.
